’02 Pittsburgh Pro Fitness: Adela’s Triple Crown
PITTSBURGH—Adela Garcia-Friedmansky picked up her third victory of the season—and her pro career—at Pittsburgh’s Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall on September 28, and it was a lulu. Winning three out of four rounds and coming in second in the routines put the diminutive diva from Normal, Illinois, 57 points ahead of second-placer Shannon Meteraud and five grand richer at the end of the evening.
Seventeen fab fitness femmes flew to the Steel City for the third edition of this event, knowing that the presence of the already-Olympia-qualified AGF, Meteraud, Tanji Johnson and Christine Bergeron in the lineup meant that only one competitor would likely be tapped for the big show. Who that would be remained a mystery till the ladies lined up onstage in their two-piece swimsuits for round 1. One look at the condition of Anna Level, an able performer of fitness routines who had so far not set the pro ranks on fire, and it didn’t take Sherlock Holmes to solve the puzzle. Level’s sharp, newly revamped physique put her in the number-three spot, four points behind Shannon, while Carla Sanchez rode her first-place routine score into fifth.
Next year the Jim Manion–produced competition, which features a larger-than-the-average-fitness-show total purse of $12,500 in addition to an NPC amateur bodybuilding fitness and figure contest, will include a pro figure event as well.

NPC Figure Contest to Join the Pro IRONMAN
This news is so hot, we haven’t even thought up a name for the show. The ’03 IRONMAN Pro Invitational, which is set for February 15 at the El Camino Center for the Arts in Torrance, California, in will also include an NPC amateur figure contest—and a prize many pro fitness and figure competitors would kill for: a photo shoot with Mike Neveux. That’s right, in addition to trophies, all class winners at the IRONMAN amateur figure competition will get a session with master lensman Michael and be featured in a Hardbody layout in IRONMAN. Way cool, eh, gals? So tell your friends—and your clients—to shape up and come on down. For information call 1-800-447-0008.
