Junior Cal, Western Collegiate Set for June 26 in Pasadena

IRON MAN Magazine's Lonnie Teper, best known for his journalistic and emcee talents, will again don the Promoter's cap in hosting the 2004 NPC Junior California and Western Collegiate Bodybuilding and Figure Championships on Saturday, June 26 at Sexson Auditorium on the campus of Pasadena City College.

Teper expanded the California Collegiates to the Western Collegiates in 2003, and this year has added the Junior California for the first time, which is open to any resident of California. Competitors in the collegiate portion of the event must be enrolled or registered in a Western States college during the 2004 academic year.

Three-time Arnold Classic winner Jay Cutler returns as the featured guest poser, and IFBB Fitness luminary Laura Mak will also perform. Other major stars scheduled to appear are Lee and Cathy Priest, Timea Majorova, Richard Jones, Mike Morris and Chris Cook, among others.

Pre-judging ($10) will begin at 11 a.m., with the Finals ($25) set to begin at 6:30 p.m. "This should be another great, fun event," said Teper. "I've talked to a lot of people who are interested in competing'with the addition of the Junior Cal, it will add a lot more quality to the contest overall.

"The line-ups in both shows should be outstanding, and in addition to seeing some great new talent in the industry, the fans will get to meet some of the biggest stars in the sport, up close and personal.

"Cutler enjoyed his time at the show so much last year that he wanted to come back and guest pose again. Lee and Cathy have been major supporters of the contest since it began in 1999, and so has Timea. All of them have donated their time in helping to make the event the success it has been through the years."

To find out more information about the contest, contact Teper at 626-403-1232 or e-mail him at [email protected] . The college is located at 1570 E. Colorado Boulevard (Hill St. exit off 201 freeway); Sexson Auditorium is inside the "C" building, which faces Colorado Boulevard.
