Memorial Day, May 31, 2010 was an enormous success at Muscle Beach. The Muscle Beach International Classic and Armed Forces Championship saw a record number of bodybuilders, figure and bikini competitors “strut their stuff”.
A C-17 Flyover from March AFB sent the crowd into a frenzy. Thanks to Colonel Ken Goode our ground support for bringing the big bird in “low, slow and dirty”.
Joe Weider was on hand to receive recognition and a huge thank you for his generous donation of permanent stadium seating which was installed at Venice Beach. The seating capacity for the event has now been raised to 1000 spectators who can sit and watch the excitement on stage. Joe was acknowledged by Mark Antonio Grant, representing Councilmen Bill Rosendahl 11th District City of Los Angeles. A special poster was presented to Joe by Mick Skinner from Bodybuilding.com.
Ed Fury and William Smith were inducted into the Muscle Beach Venice Bodybuilding Hall of Fame. Their bronze plaques have joined the many other inductees along the Boardwalk in the Muscle Beach Walk of Fame.
