5-methyl-7-methoxyisoflavone (MF) is another supplement that’s called anabolic, though there’s a dearth of available evidence. To test the effects of MF on lean mass gains, bone density and fat loss, researchers from Florida and Nebraska gave 14 healthy men either MF or a placebo. The MF group took a supplement containing a total of 800 milligrams of MF for eight weeks.
The placebo group experienced a gain in fat mass, but the MF group did not. The MF group also showed gains in lean mass not observed in the placebo group. Neither group showed any changes in peak force or power. This preliminary evidence suggest that MF may favorably alter body composition in men. IM
