Everyone has the same 10,080 minutes in a week. Some people have time to change the world, and others barely have time to change their socks. Time isn’t the issue when it comes to high performance in business or in life. Having the energy to use your time effectively is!
Lets face it: Most of us don’t live in the gym. We have jobs, businesses, families and other commitments that take time. And the way most of us support ourselves and our families is by bringing value to the world in one way or another. Typically, we are compensated based on the value we bring. I know that’s a generalization, but hang in there with me for a minute.
In today’s saturated business world, performance may very well be the most valuable form of currency, not money. It takes expertise, energy and innovative thinking to deliver in today’s business environment. Those who deliver, profit and grow; those who don’t will not be here tomorrow.
The movie “Secretariat” showed how people treat a gifted animal that was of high value. The owners and trainers made sure it got enough rest, ate the proper food at the right times and exercised effectively so it would perform up to its ultimate potential. Secretariat was a valuable asset and was treated as such.
So many people can understand the value of a racehorse or even a car but underestimate their own personal value. They reduce their own personal performance by not resting enough, eating poorly, not exercising effectively and filling their head with unproductive thoughts. In short, they are out of balance and not healthy and whole. They take their most valuable asset, their own human performance, and destroy it.
If you were doing this to a racehorse, you would be labeled a nut—but when you do it to yourself, you are labeled an American.
Is the American dollar of less value today because many Americans have destroyed their own personal value and it’s carrying over into the business world? As an IRON MAN reader you have the answer to that problem, and I encourage you to bring the bodybuilding lifestyle to those who are struggling. We can change the country and the economy one person at a time by encouraging and fortifying today’s universal currency, which is human performance.
