ABT- Athletic Based Training: Training Intensity vs Training Volume
One of the most common question that we get is “What’s more important, training intensity or training volume?”
In my opinion the answer is training intensity. Training intensity increases your metabolic rate, improves cardiovascular endurance and requires less time in the gym.
Yes, there are people that prefer to be in the gym 7 days a week and that’s totally understandable. Personally I would rather train very intense for 4-5 days a week and have two recovery days. Of course if you are a bodybuilder, competitor, etc it may require more training volume. In terms of other sports and fitness enthusiasts the recovery is just as valuable as the training.
So creating a maximum of 5 days a week, which in most cases includes sports specific training, sprints, ploys , etc can be the best way to maximize results, recovery and spend less time in the gym.
