In a study performed at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, researchers gave mice what amounted to five sodas a day for six months. Those mice had more than twice the amyloid plaque in their brains and did far worse on memory tests than mice who drank water. By the way, amyloid plaque is a sign of Alzheimer’s disease. So was it the sugar, extra bodyweight or something else? Does it matter? Drink soda in moderation only.
