COLLECTING HOLIDAY PRESENTS FOR KIDS
Toy drive and placement of time capsules at Muscle Beach Venice

LOS ANGELES – Venice Beach Recreation Center, a Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks facility at 1800 Ocean Front Walk, will have its third annual Muscle Beach Toy Drive on Saturday, December 12, and Sunday, December 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.

Unwrapped toys will be accepted to be given out to needy children in the Venice area, and Santa Claus will arrive on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

At 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, two time capsules will be buried inside the concrete stage at Muscle Beach, in recognition of its 75th anniversary, which was commemorated at the annual Mr. & Ms. Muscle Beach Bodybuilding, Figure, and Bikini Competition on July 4.

Several bodybuilding icons are expected to attend, including: Joe Weider, former Mr. Olympians Franco Columbu and Samir Bannout, former Ms. Olympia Cory Everson and former Mr. Universe Bill Grant. Councilmember Bill Rosendahl (11th District, in which Venice Beach is located) will present a special proclamation to Weider for his support of Muscle Beach.

Iron Man Magazine and Bodybuilding.com are presenting the events, which are being produced by Joe Wheatley Productions and hosted by the Department of Recreation and Parks and the Los Angeles Police Department’s Pacific Division.
