The news was sad today, but not unexpected. Dennis Tinerino died at 64 after losing his year-long battle with his toughest opponent ever, stomach cancer. Tinerino was one of bodybuilding’s brightest stars in the 1960s and 1970s, winning both the AAU Mr. America and Mr. Universe crowns in 1967 and 1968, respectively. He competed in the Mr. Olympia several times, finishing as high as sixth in the 1977 event.
Dennis, born in Brooklyn, New York on December 23, 1945, eventually turned to Christianity, and opened up his Dennis Tinerino Ministries in 1979, based in Northridge, California.
