What a Sunday-morning treat! The results from the ’10 John Simmons Detroit Pro Bikini, held yesterday, September 18, were anything but same old, same old. Not that they really could have been old considering that none of the 15 ladies in the lineup were qualified for the Olympia, but certainly unexpected, with Noemi Olah, a Hungarian delight who petitioned for a pro card after winning her class at the Amateur Arnold last March, sweeping the show in her debut. Another first-timer, Junior USA class winner Christy Merritt, took a unanimous second, while Dina Al-Sabah (at left) got the third Olympia-qualifying spot. (Sometimes the fourth time’s the charm, eh, Dina?)
An interesting tidbit I picked up at Hardbody.com this morning: Dina competed in the first Figure Olympia and will now be onstage at the first Bikini O. She made the top five at the former, which might be a little harder to do this time out, with 24 of the pro ranks’ most sizzling bikini sensations invited to compete at the big showdown at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas this coming weekend.
Rounding out the winner’s circle were Jessica Clay, who I thought was overlooked at the Tournament of Champions last week, landing in fourth; and Davana Medina, who won that first Figure Olympia back 2003, taking fifth in her bikini debut.
I can’t wait to meet Olah and Christy at the O. Below are the complete results from Detroit.
