With more than 1 million followers on Instagram, Paige Hathaway has etched herself into the social media landscape. It all started in 2011, when she entered her first bikini competition. Before taking that on, she was “very thin with hardly any muscle tone,” she said. A trainer at her gym helped get her into serious condition by arousing her desire to be a fit, strong woman. That year she placed second at the NPC Ronnie Coleman Classic, which took her motivation to the next level. Now she wanted to inspire people. Social media enabled her to extend her reach, garner all those followers and gain exposure—and the rest is history. Let’s hear more from Paige.

I train abs three days a week and do cardio five days a week.
What has been the biggest mistake you’ve made with your training in the past? I think the biggest mistake I made was when I first started doing bikini competitions. I would go for weeks on end without eating carbs, and my calorie intake was superlow. This is a mistake that a lot of competitors make, and that is why a lot of people “rebound” after their competition and end up gaining more weight than they started with. It also does major damage to your metabolic system. I’ve had to “reset” my metabolic system, and that wasn’t easy nor does it happen overnight.
