I want to thank each and every one of you who have passed along condolences regarding the passing of my mother almost two weeks ago. Phone calls, emails, texts, cards, messages on my blog, and on the obit that I wrote for the Los Angeles Times. Some from people I don’t even know. And, they’re still coming in.
People were right who told me that, even though my mother was in failing health, and I knew her time on this earth was coming to an end, it would be a devastating blow when that moment arrived. I’m still feeling sort of numb.
We had a small gathering at her graveside service last Friday at the San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills. In addition to family members, all from my mother’s side (I lost my father at 17; my parents divorced when I was very young), one of my best friends, Randy Hill, made the drive from Scottsdale, Arizona, to give his respects. Ron Avidan was there in support; so was Bert Perry.
All of your kind thoughts have meant a lot to me, and would have made my mother proud. Grieving isn’t an easy process, but you have helped make it a smoother transition.
Again, much appreciation noted to all.
NOTE: In lieu of flowers, please make a donation, in memory of Marie Hearn, to Roze Room Hospice, 5455 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 810, Los Angeles, CA 90036.
