The eating basics for getting rid of a bulging belly are simple (unless you’re pregnant, in which case you’ll have to put up with your bulge for a while). According to the November ’12 Better Nutrition, “The key to trimming belly fat is to replace the processed carbs, including alcohol, in your diet with fruits, vegetables, good fats and healthy protein.”
Protein-charged meals are key because, as a recent study showed, “Protein promotes the release of fat from fat cells into the blood, where it is burned during exercise.” So eating more protein will have you burning more fat at your workouts and even during daily activities like walking. Good stuff. Be sure you get enough.
Focus your diet on lean protein, good carbs like fruits and vegetables and healthy fats, and your belly fat will be gone just like that. Well, maybe not just like that, but be patient. Weight training and some cardio will also help.
One supplement that can boost fat-burning is 7-keto. We’ve had info on it here before, but a new study verifies its effectiveness in the fight against fatness, as described in the October ’12 Better Nutrition:
“In an eight-week study of 23 overweight people, published in Current Therapeutic Research, half took 100 milligrams of 7-keto twice daily while the other half took a placebo. Both groups followed a diet containing approximately 1,800 calories daily and did three workouts per week. After two months those taking 7-keto lost an average of 6.3 pounds, compared to 2.1 pounds in the placebo group. Tests of various health markers found that the supplement produced no adverse effects.”
