If you’re dieting, you know what it’s like between feedings. Sometimes you get so hungry you could chew off your own finger. Instead, sniff peppermint. A study at Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia found that people who inhaled the essence of peppermint every two hours ate 23 fewer calories than those who didn’t. Chewing peppermint gum could work just as well, especially since research has proven that chewing is an appetite suppressant. So you get a double-dose effect.
