That’s exactly what I’ll be doing on Saturday, heading out to Culver City in the morning to check out the prejudging for the NPC Muscle Contest Bodybuilding, Figure and Bikini Championships, as well as the first ever-pro bikini event in Southern California.
Then, I’ll grab some lunch, clean up, and zoom back to Vets Auditorium (50 miles, round-trip) to co-emcee the finals with Gina Aliotti. Better clean up real good, now that I think about it. Ain’t easy lookin’ half-way decent standing next to the former Figure International champ (and two-time Figure Olympia runner-up).
Promoter Jon Lindsay, coming off a 210-competitor event in his season opener in San Diego last weekend, had 140 entries in hand by Tuesday night; I’d say the Jaguar will get 175 when it’s all said and done.
The bikini line-up is cookin’, with the likes of Sonia Gonzales, coming off a victory last weekend in New Zealand, USA class winners Amanda Latona, Monique Minton and Michelle Gullett, Nationals class victor Alea Suarez and exciting newcomers Stacey Thompson and Dianne Dahlgren among the solid 16-woman line-up. Like Gonzales, Sherlyn Roy and Zhanna Rotar are making the transition from figure to bikini.
