An e-mail exchange with a competitor I know in Texas says it all.
“Hey, Ruth, are you liking the results of women’s physique?” she queried.
“Yes,” I replied, “although It’s not what I expected it to be; so I’m adjusting.
“Not in a negative way,” I added. “Those were good winners at the Junior Nationals.”
In fact, Jennifer Robinson and Jillian Reville were very good winners and candidates to move on to the next level at the second pro qualifier for the fledging sport, which took place in Rosemont, Illinois, near Chicago last weekend, June 17 and 18.
Can you say symmetry? Both gals had it in spades, along with plenty of pretty muscle and just enough conditioning. Both, it turns out, are longtime figure competitors who did well at local shows but couldn’t crack the big time at the pro-qualifying level.
Forty-one women came to the Hyatt Regency O’Hare Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois. Robinson, a police officer from Tennessee won the A-class and overall; Reville, who once worked on Wall Street, took the B-class. So you might say they are a well-rounded as well as symmetrical pair.
