The season at Muscle Beach started out with a bang. A record number of competitors entered the Muscle Beach International Classic with International athletes from Germany, the United Kingdom and Canada representing Poland.
The Overall Men’s Winner was Carl Mathews, the Overall Women’s Winner was Lindi Ince and the Overall Figure Winner was Erin Lutz. The Tuff Stuff Posing Award was also presented to Carl Mathews who did an EXCELLENT routine. The Weider Overall Bodybuilding Awards were presented by Gunter Schlierkamp representing Weider International.
A record number of Figure Competitors filled the stage to a hoots and whistles from the crowd. In addition to an exciting bodybuilding event a C-17 Globemaster Flyover from March Air Force Base brought the crowd to a frenzy. Brigadier General Ellen Pawlikowski brought greetings from the Armed Services and inducted 20 new ROTC recruits. All branches of the military were on site with interactive and static equipment displays. The 562nd National Guard Jazz Ensemble held two concerts that wowed the audience.
Sponsored by Iron Man Magazine, the Muscle Beach Venice Bodybuilding Hall of Fame inducted two new members. Tony Pearson, Mr. USA Junior and Mr. America and DeForrest (Moe) Most an original Muscle Beach Santa Monica athlete were honored.
A Fit Expo of health and fitness sponsors attracted large crowds with demonstrations of equipment, products and giveaways. Special thanks to the Host Sponsor – Head Blade and supported by Bobybuilding.com, Gold’s Gym, Bodi Pro, Mind Over Matter Clothing, One More Rep, Xango, House of Pain, and Uni-bal the Venice Boardwalk emptied into the venue.
