The NPC West Coast has been a successful event for 17 years now, but as Promoter Lonnie Teper says, there’s always room for improvement. So, after taking place in the San Gabriel Valley since its 1999 inception, the show moves to the Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside on Saturday, June 18. And, with many additions, including its first ever Fitness Expo that features seminars by four-time Mr. Olympia and three-time Arnold Classic champion Jay Cutler and former pro standout Chris Cormier.
“I brought on Chris Minnes to the staff this year,” said Teper, “and Chris is known for first class productions with his Ferrigno Legacy and Tahoe Shows. We wanted to raise the bar with the NPC West Coast, so the event is being moved the recently renovated Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside, one of the most popular venues on the West Coast. And, with the large number of sponsors, we were able to add an Expo, which will be free. At this point we are around 40 booths. We’re also having an after party at ProAbition Whiskey Lounge, a short walk from the auditorium, which has free admission.
“The Inland Empire has really grown in recent years, and the area has produced a large list of competitors. The response, especially from local athletes, has been terrific. For those who can’t attend the show, a free, live web stream is being offered, courtesy of Carr Cellular Fitness & Performance.”
Bodybuilding.com returns as Title Sponsor for the contest, which is attracting a lot of media attention. Binais Begovic, owner of IRON MAN Magazine, will be there, along with several members of his staff, to give coverage to the event. “Begoivic will be also searching for new talent to shoot for his publication, so another great reason for people to enter the show,” said Teper.
Deadline for entry before a late fee kicks in is Friday, June 10. Prejudging will be at 10 am, with the finals set for 10 pm. All details about the exciting event can be found by logging on to npcwestcoast.com.
