It took a while to assemble all of the photos from various sources, but I’m finally posting about how much fun I had at the NPC Capital of Texas Roundup in Austin on August 1st. My best friend, Cecil Ballard, promoted the show and as usual asked me to guest pose (he knows how much I love guest posing). In only his 3rd year of promoting the show Cecil had 106 athletes compete in his event.
Here’s me and Cecil at the night show after his stress levels had subsided.
I had the great pleasure of getting to pick up both Sherry Goggin and Sylvio Samuel at the airport for Cecil. Sherry is as sweet as she is beautiful, and Sylvio has got to be one of the finest gentlemen in professional bodybuilding! Not only did he show up to guest pose in fantastic shape, but he’s also very genuine and down-to-earth, and he was just incredible when interacting with the fans and their children. I caught him losing an arm wrestling match with a budding super-star.
Cecil put together a really cool western-style opening for the show, complete with some of the athletes on stage in cowboy hats and chaps, with me and Cecil dressed ready to step on the set of Tombstone. After Cecil’s introduction of the NPC officials and attending celebrities on the foggy stage with Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy playing, it was my turn to kick off the show as the first guest poser. I put together a performance for the Texas Roundup which started with me playing and singing a couple verses of Dead or Alive before getting down to posing action.
The show was just tremendous….as I said 106 fine athletes and a ton of celebs.
One of my favorite people in the physique world is super-model Jamie Eason. Jamie is another one of those people who is as gorgeous on the inside as she is on the outside. She’s always so sweet to everyone! And, she’s quick to tell that the 2005 Texas Shredder Classic was her first show and it launched her into super-stardom (ok…I added that second part). Here she is with my daughters Molly and Blythe.
Speaking of sweeties, fitness/figure icon Monica Brandt was on hand and I collected a hug.
And let’s not forget our co-host, 3-Time Ms Olympia Fitness Champion, Adela Garcia pictured here with her client Dana McKee (Figure C class champ) and outstanding Austin photographer James Blount.
And, then there’s my lovely girlfriend Diana Hurley, without whom our shows would fall apart at the seams!
Also on hand at the show was Jr. USA Bikini overall champion and now IFBB Bikini Pro, Shelsea Montes. Shelsea always has a beautiful smile on her face! Shelsea is pictured here with NPC West Texas Classic Bikini Champion Leslie Roe (left) and gorgeous Stefani Garee who made her NPC Bikini debut with a strong 3rd place finish at the show.
When I think of dazzling smiles I think of IFBB Bikini Pro Stacy Oster who was at the judges table for the Roundup. Here’s a competition photo of Stacy.
The most popular booth at the expo was the SugarBaby Swimwear booth. Here I am with owner Amy Pitre.
Amy has some great competition suits and bikinis, but what attracted the guys to her booth were Amy and her hot models….like Playboy SE model Amber Kitchens.
The after-party at Salt Grass was a great time to relax and enjoy the comradarie of all the wonderful people who were part of the show. My daughters really worked their tails off to help make the show run smoothly and really enjoyed their after-contest dinner.
After the after-party the ladies ganged up on poor Sylvio. Diana, Samantha Ballard and Sherry with Sylvio.
