Do you work out with a partner, or do you go solo? If part of the reason you lift is to relieve stress, you may want to consider a training partner.
According to the February ’13 Prevention, researchers at Stanford and Santa Clara universities found that exercising with a partner boosts a workout’s stress-reduction benefits.
Those who trained with a partner “felt calmer than solo exercisers did immediately following their workout and later that night.”
And if you think you need to talk to get the stress-relief benefits, think again. “Whether the subjects chatted during the activity did not change the results.”
