Good for Teresa Anthony. After a three-year career in the pros marked by more ups and downs than the rides at Magic Mountain, the 5’7 1/2″ figure ace from Maryland charged into the Scottish Rites Events Center in San Diego and roared past  Felicia Romero into the winner’s circle. Teresa was on a roll for sure after making the essential first callout at the Olympia in September only to miss out in a top-six finish and then taking the runner-up spot in Houston on October 23. One point kept her from the win in Texas. By the time she got to Cali, nothing was going to stop her, not even defending champ Romero. According to reports, Felicia looked good but not quite as sharp as she had at the O, where she came in fifth, while Anthony had held and even improved on her condition at the previous shows.

Finishing third in the 21-woman lineup, Ava Cowan nabbed the Olympia invite folks have been predicting for her since she earned her pro card a year ago at the ’09 Nationals. Rookie Deena Walsh looked fine in taking fourth and had at lease a few observers thinking that she should have gotten an Olympia-qualifying spot. Not to worry. Deena’s time will come. Kristen Nunn, always a contender, rounded out the top five.

This coming weekend the pro physique action moves up to Sacramento—and back to bikini. Will Amanda Latona get back on track at the Sacramento Pro after her disappointing fifth-place finish at the Olympia? Will Jessica Putnam get her first victory in the bikini division at the Sacramento Pro? (Or have I quashed any chance she had by even suggesting it?) As we old-school types always say, stay tuned.
