Conjugated linoleic acid, or CLA, has gained force as an unsaturated fatty acid that encourages fat loss by decreasing the amount of fat stored in fat cells, shrinking them and raising the metabolic rate while stimulating the development of lean muscle.
Recently, researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison found that there were dramatic changes in fat use and a drastic reduction in catabolism in individuals who supplemented with CLA before sleep compared to those who didn’t. Data from the study conclusively showed that CLA positively increases fat burning and reduces the protein breakdown that occurs during sleep.
