Glutathione is an immune-boosting antioxidant. It scavenges free radicals and helps protect cells but is very hard to absorb because it’s broken down in the digestive system. The best way to boost your glutathione stores—and your immune system—is to give the body the building blocks it needs to construct the antioxidant. Those include whey protein and N-acetylcysteine. Most bodybuilders get plenty of whey, but if you want to supplement NAC, try 600 to 1,000 milligrams a day. It also helps protect the liver.
