So I have been hard at work both at my job, and in the gym. After being settled, I’ve finally gotten back in to my routine. Working out 6 days a week. Working. Researching. Writing. It’s been tough, especially in a new environment, but I’m back at it. I even started lifting again! And trust me, I’m still sore from what was possibly the lightest workout I’ve ever done.
The sad part is that I won’t be able to run my half in a few weeks like I wanted. But I think I’m going to change it up and run a different one. I’ve been training so hard for it that I really want to see if I can do it. Sometimes, life just gets in the way of things.
But as I said, I’m back in the gym. Because I am still barely getting into the swing of it, I’ve just been doing total body workouts. I’ll continue that for another week or so and then change it to a different split. I like to lift weights during the week and just cardio on the weekends. Keeps me balanced. I still do cardio on the days I lift, just not a whole lot… unless I decide to start leaning out. Then I crank up the cardio. But with this California weather, it’s hard to not just go for a long run. It’s too nice to not take advantage of an outdoor workout.
When I do go into my splits, however, I can assure you that I won’t be lift legs the same way. I pretty much only do glue exercises that are assisted by the legs. I don’t do single joint very often, so I won’t be doing leg extension/curl. I probably won’t even do many squats, at least not heavy squats. My knee has been acting up and I don’t want to chance it. But I am excited to see where this goes. I can tell my body is changing, I just can’t pinpoint where it’ll end up. Stay tuned!
